Joel Stanley Wright, 67 passed away on December 5, 2015. In Hebbronville Texas. Mr. Wright was born in Joliet Illinois on May 2, 1948. He is preceded in death by his parents Frank and Margaret Wright. Several aunts and uncles including Warren and Dorothy Boullard . He is survived by his brother Richard Frank Wright and sister-in-law Sharon and nephew David Wright all of Mercedes Texas. Cousin Karen (Wright) Hughes and her husband Tom of Dublin Ca. as well as other cousins, nieces and nephews.
Mr. Wright is also survived by his longtime friend Dr. Humberto Gonzalez and his wife Cynthia and their Family of Hebbronville, Texas, and Other friends include John Hancock of Elwood Ill., Patricia Taylor Youngren, and Joe and Barb Carnaghi and family of Joliet, Il. Mr. Wright served in the US Army and did a tour of duty in Vietnam.
He was a graduate of the Vandercook School of Music in Chicago Ill. and a retired educator having taught for over thirty years at Hebbronville High School and United High School as band Director. He was an excellent trumpet player who loved Jazz and instilled excellence and a passion for love of music in all his students. He came to Texas in 1974 when he was offered the position of Assistant Band Director at Hebbronville High School by Dr. Humberto Gonzalez who became his lifelong friend. His legacy as a premier trumpet instructor and band director producing all-state players at both Hebbronville schools and United schools will be long remembered by his friends and students who were blessed to have known him.

Memorial visitation will start at 5:30 p.m. with a prayer and reflection at 6:30 p.m.Testimonial at 7:00 p.m., music and video presentation at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, December 11, 2015 at Funeraria Del Angel Howard-Williams. Final resting place will be on Monday, December 21, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, IL with full military honors.
