Javier Vela passed away on Friday, September 27, 2024 at a hospital in Concord, North Carolina at the age of 54. He was born on September 18, 1970 to Eloy Vela Sr. and Julia Martinez Vela in Falfurrias, Texas. Javier proudly served in the United States Army as a Specialist during the Gulf War. He worked for many years in the packing industry.
Javier is preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife, Martha Lu Plane Vela of Wadesboro, NC; three children, Jesse Logan (Amanda) Vela, Hunter Aaron Vela, and Ciera Rose Vela; brothers, Eloy (Cynthia Saenz) Vela, Jr. and Gaspar Luis (Renee) Cantu; sisters, Dalia Aracelia (Jimmy) Deen and Velma Jo (Don) Ballard; three grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
Rosary will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, October 18, 2024 at the Funeraria Del Angel Howard Williams in Falfurrias with Visitation beginning at 5:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 19, 2024 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Falfurrias. Burial will follow at the Vela Family Cemetery in La Parrita with Military Honors.
