Idolina “Dolly” Saenz Horton entered into eternal rest on Sunday, November 24, 2024 at a nursing home in Alice, Texas at the age of 90. She was born on June 16, 1934 to Pedro Saenz, Sr. and Elena Johnson Saenz in Premont, Texas. Dolly worked as a clerk for the West Supermarket and Brown Hardware for many years. She was a devoted catholic and strong in her faith. She was a very social and friendly person who loved to cook, bake and gamble. Family was also very important to her and she cherished every minute she spent with them.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lloyd Horton; brothers, Jose Maria “Pepe” Saenz and Belisario “BJ” Saenz; sister, Dorina (Domingo) Hinojosa and sisters-in-law, Rosabel Saenz and Mary Saenz.
She is survived by her brothers, Pedro Saenz, Jr. of Premont and Feliberto Saenz of Houston, Texas; sister, Marta (Don) Thomas of Michigan; sister-in-law, Olivia Saenz of Michigan; two stepchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
Pallbearers are Elias Arredondo, Isaiah Saenz, Robert Saenz, Tres Saenz, Cuatro Saenz and Ricky Saenz.
Honorary Pallbearer is Don Thomas.
Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, November 29, 2024 at the Funeraria Del Angel Howard Williams in Falfurrias with Visitation beginning at 6:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 30, 2024 at the St. Theresas Catholic Church in Premont and services will conclude with Burial at Premont Cemetery.
Gratitude is expressed to the staff at Meridian Care of Alice for their excellent care of Dolly during her stay there.
