Idalia “Yaya” G. Zuniga entered into eternal rest on Monday, December 12, 2022 at a nursing home in Falfurrias, Texas at the age of 94. She was born on October 15, 1928 to Miguel Gonzalez and Olivia Rodriguez Gonzalez in Falfurrias, Texas. Yaya was a devoted housewife, loving mother and caring grandmother for many years.
She was also devoted to her faith and a member of the Rosary Crusade and Schoenstatt Sisters groups. She loved spending time with her sister visiting with their friends at the Carousel Adult Daycare Center in Falfurrias. If every looking for Yaya, you knew you could find her relaxing in her rocking chair, chewing her gum or eating her favorite candies, Life Savers.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Sandalio R. Zuniga; son, Homero Zuniga; grandson, Marco Zuniga and brothers, Santos Gonzalez and Humberto Gonzalez.
She is survived by her daughter, Maria Teresa Charles of Falfurrias; sister, Odilia Ramirez of Falfurrias; three grandchildren, Cheryl Charles and Juan Charles, Jr. both of Falfurrias and Homer (James) Williams of Corpus Christi, Texas; four grandchildren, Adrian Riley Gonzalez, Samantha Jo Ruiz, Laney Nicole Charles and Sophia Rose Charles and four additional great-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren, Juan Garcia, III, Jionni Garcia and Jordan Foxx Garcia and four additional great-grandchildren and many extended family members.
A Rosary will be prayed at 10:15 a.m. on Thursday, December 15, 2022 at the Funeraria Del Angel Howard Williams in Falfurrias with Visitation beginning at 9:00 a.m. Funeral Mass will follow at 11:30 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Falfurrias and services will conclude with Burial at the Sacred Heart Cemetery.
Family is requesting all attendees please wear a facial covering during funeral services.
