Edna Mae Ketner Glendenning

Edna Mae Ketner Glendenning, 88, stepped into the loving arms of God on Wednesday, April 24, 2013 at her daughter’s residence in New Braunfels, Texas. She was welcomed into the gates of Heaven by the Lord; her parents, Roy and Bertha Ketner; loving husband of 58 years, Dr. Fletcher Carey Glendenning and infant son, Martin Glendenning.

Edna was born on September 14, 1924 to Roy and Bertha Barnes Ketner in Frost, Texas. She lived in Frost and Sherman, Texas until her graduation from high school. During WWII she lived in Omaha, Nebraska and New York City and then eventually moved back home settling in Dallas, Texas. There she met and married Fletcher C. Glendenning on August 6, 1949 and after living in Hereford briefly they moved to Hebbronville, Texas where they raised their two children. Edna was a loving housewife who always took care of her family and helped in the setup of her physician husband’s medical practice that ended up serving thousands of patients over a span of 52 years. Edna’s strength came from her faith in God and her true joy in life was to serve and help others. With a touch, a kind word or a simple deed she could shine light and love on those around her. As her physical abilities diminished with age, she still sought ways to bring kindness and love to anyone she could. One of her favorite ways to do this was to whisper to you, “I have a secret” and then pause as you leaned in to hear the answer…….which she would say softly and sweetly in your ear, “Jesus loves you”.

Edna leaves behind to cherish her memory her son, John (Denise) Glendenning of Geronimo, TX; daughter, Susie Glendenning of New Braunfels, TX; two grandsons, Michael (Shelli) Glendenning and Craig Glendenning and may extended family members.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. till 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 28, 2013 at the Funeraria Del Angel Howard Williams in Hebbronville with the family receiving condolences at 5:00 p.m.

Graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, April 29, 2013 at the Roselawn Cemetery in McAllen, Texas.
