Dora V. Acevedo entered into eternal rest on Wednesday , August 9, 2017 in Corpus Christi, Texas at the age of 91. She was born on March 14, 1926 to Filiberto Valderas and Paula Garcia Valderas in Los Ojuelos, Texas. She was a proud community member of Hebbronville, Texas and she was a ranch owner and business woman. During her life she owned her own tortilla factory for over 15 years, helped manage her husband’s wrecker service and auto body repair businesses and maintained the family ranch. She was a charter member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary and a member of the Catholic Daughters of America. Dora picked up the hobby of crafting faux stained glass which she really enjoyed.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Guadalupe Acevedo, Sr.; brothers, Agapito, Jose and Humberto Valderas; sisters, Goya Suarez, Alicia Cuellar, Maria Cuellar and Lile Saenz; nephews, Freddie Valderas and Jose Valderas, Jr. and niece, Nita Elda Saenz Vela.
Dora is survived by her son, Guadalupe Acevedo, Jr. of North Carolina; daughter, Rosa L. Flores of Corpus Christi, Texas; brother, Roberto (Soila) Valderas of Hebbronville; sisters, Rosa Saenz of Benavides, Texas and Elma Cantu of Hebbronville; six grandchildren, Robert Acevedo, Belinda Acevedo, Raymond (Joanna) Acevedo, Mario (Kim) Flores, Marcos (Robyn) Flores, and Teresa (Wesley) Lentz; nine great-grandchildren, Conner McCleod, RJ and Katelyn Acevedo, Caroline, Aidan, Katherine, Madeline, Mia and Tinsley Rose Flores; special friends Anastacio Salas and Caro Vasquez, all the staff of Trisun River Ridge, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Mario Flores, Marcos Flores, Raymond Acevedo , Javier Soliz, Wesley Lentz and Ruben Cantu. Honorary Pallbearers are Aidan Flores and RJ Acevedo.
Rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 13, 2017 at the Funeraria Del Angel Howard Williams in Hebbronville with visitation beginning at 5:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, August 14, 2017 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Hebbronville. Burial will follow at the New Hebbronville Cemetery.
