Dimas Quintanilla, Sr. entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, February 6, 2019 at the Alfredo Gonzalez State Veterans Home in Pharr, Texas at the age of 85. He was born on April 8, 1933 to Natividad Quintanilla and Guadalupe Almendarez Quintanilla in Premont, Texas. Dimas proudly served in the United State Army during the Korean War. He later worked as a Cement Finisher for many years until his retirement. Dimas loved to cook, bake and hunt. He was famous for his amazing carne guisada and pan de campo. He adored baking candies for his children when they were younger. His grandchildren were his pride and joy.
Dimas is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Guadalupe Garcia Quintanilla and all but one sibling.
He leaves behind to cherish his memories his son, Dimas (Lily) Quintanilla, Jr. of Lake Jackson, Texas; daughters, Rosario Quintanilla (Alejo) Salas of Nederland, Texas and Carlolina Quintanilla Rios of Corpus Christi, Texas; sister, Anita Quintanilla Sanchez of Premont; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Friday, February 8, 2019 at the Funeraria Del Angel Howard Williams in Falfurrias. A Rosary will be recited at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 9, 2019 at the Funeraria Del Angel Howard Williams in Falfurrias with a Funeral Mass to follow at 11:00 a.m. at the St. Theresa’s Catholic Church in Premont. Services will conclude with a Burial at the Premont Cemetery.
