Celia C. Mata entered into eternal rest on Friday, June 9, 2023 at a Woodlake nursing home in Clute, Texas, at the age of 93. She was born on May 3, 1930 to Manuel Garcia and Trinidad Vera Garcia in Concepcion, Texas. Celia was a longtime resident of Premont, Texas before moving to Brazoria, Texas. She was an amazing person who loved her family. She was known for being a great seamstress and loving the game of bingo and loteria. Celia was an avid Astros baseball fan and her favorite player was Craig Biggio. If she had any spare time, she enjoyed testing her mind with crossword and word search puzzles.
Celia is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Martin Mata Sr.; sons, Martin Mata Jr. and Jose Mata; three sisters, Aminta Pena, Magdalena Huerta and Rumalda Mata and one brother, Norberto V. Garcia Sr.
She is survived by her sons, Hipolito (Cindi) Mata of Lake Jackson, Texas, Romeo (Joann) Mata of Sweeny, Texas, Leovardo (Kim) Mata of Brazoria and Roy (Nina) Mata of Lake Jackson; daughters, Gloria Ramirez of Kingsville, Texas, Dalia Senior of Brazoria and Tila Howard of Brazoria; brother, Jesus (Alma) Garcia of Premont; sister, Juanita (Al) Duarte of Torrance, California; daughter-in-law, Flora Mata of Brazoria; 23 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; 22 great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
Pallbearers will be Danny Ramirez, Martin Mata lll, Paul Mata, Ricardo Mata, Elvis Pena and Levi Mata.
Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 14, 2023 at Funeraria Del Angel Howard Williams in Falfurrias, Texas with a Rosary to be recited at 9:30 a.m. Funeral Mass will follow at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Premont and services will conclude with Burial at the Premont Cemetery.
