Bruno Guerra Martinez, 76, of Austin, passed from this world on Tuesday, February 4, 2014, after a long battle with diabetes, heart disease and its many complications. Bruno was born in Falfurrias, Texas to Jacinto and Eliza Martinez in 1937. He was one of five children. In 1957, he wed Elvira Mora before enlisting in the United States Army. He received an honorable discharge from the army and later from the reserves. Together with his wife and two daughters, Noemi and Lilliana, he lived in Austin, Texas for over 41 years. While there, he was an employee of the City of Austin and worked as a mechanic on everything from police cruisers, to fire trucks and retired from the City with over 20 years of service. Bruno enjoyed music, strumming his guitar to records playing, old western movies, reading and driving around in his old "classic" truck. But, nothing compared to his enjoyment of a fresh, hot cup of coffee! He is survived by his wife, Elvira, daughters, Noemi (Shane Adams), Lilliana (Oscar Acosta); three grandchildren, Nicholas, Cynthia and Daylin; his sisters, Delia (Lupe) and Angela (Elias), his brother, Robert (Hilda) and many cousins, nephews, nieces and friends. The family would like to give thanks to the many that have offered continued prayer and support during the last few months. Viewing and rosary will be held on Friday, February 7, 2014 beginning at 10:00a.m. at Funeraria Del Angel Howard-Williams: 1208 S. St. Mary's Street, Falfurrias, Texas.
