Ascension Martinez, Jr. passed into eternal rest on May 26th at the age of 62. Chon was preceded in death by his beloved parents: Ascension Martinez, Sr. and Zulema G. Martinez. He was also loved and will greatly be missed by his son, Kevin A. (Jeanette) Martinez; daughter, Lisa (Rene) Hernandez and wife of 25 years, Rebecca Martinez, all from San Antonio, Tx.; sister: Anabella (Leonel) Farias of Portland, TX., brothers Humberto D. (Nelda) Martinez of Alice, TX and Mario (Velma) Martinez of Hebbronville, TX.; grandchildren: Contessa P. Hernandez, Paul A., Brian A., and John A. Martinez from San Antonio, TX; also several cousins, nephews, nieces, many relatives and friends.
Native of Hebbronville, Chon went on to earn his degree in Business from Sam Houston State University and then pursued his passion for Real Estate in San Antonio which then became his permanent residence. His great knack for salesmanship, along with his high ethical standards, earned him great respect and many sales! During his more than 45 years in Real Estate, Chon became a top Agent and Office Manager with many Realtors under his supervision. He was a member of San Antonio Board of Realtors, and the McAllen Board of Realtors, as well as served on several SABOR Committees; with his experience, knowledge and assistance, he helped launch the successful careers of many Realtors. Later he had a roofing business, C & M Construction and until the present time a real estate company, RBR Real Estate. Chon, alongside his wife, Becki raised their two children and enjoyed many years of vacation travels as well as various sports: volleyball, ballet with Lisa and many years of football with Kevin. He was an outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing, gambling, politics as well as a great joke! Sincere and heartfelt gratitude is extended to his loyal, dedicated and loving Caregivers, all of whom faithfully accompanied him during this last road of his journey into eternity: Alejandra Ramirez, Aida Martinez, Carlos Lopez, Cynthia Perez, Eleanor Garcia, Lisa Martinez and Kevin Martinez.
A rosary was held at 7:00 p.m. Sunday, May 29th at the Funeraria Del Angel Howard-Williams.
Mass was celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Monday, May 30th at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Hebbronville.
Interment followed at the New Hebbronville Cemetery.
