Anita V. Moreno entered into eternal rest on Saturday, August 28, 2021 at a specialty hospital in Corpus Christi, Texas at the age of 83. She was born on August 31, 1937 to Marcos Villarreal, Sr. and Otila Lopez Villarreal in Falfurrias, Texas. Before her well-deserved retirement, Anita worked for over 31 years with Brooks County ISD as a Truancy Officer, PIEMS Clerk and Secretary. She was also a self-employed Accountant who was trusted by many community members for her guidance. She worked for the Premont and Falfurrias Nursing and Rehabs as their Activities Director for many years.
Anita was an avid follower of Christ and very faithful to her church, Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She devoted many countless hours of her time helping with the treasury, Jamaicas and after mass brunches. She enjoyed helping the Catholic Daughters and was part of the Loteria Club where she played “Chalupa” with all her “Golden Girls” that retired with her. She was a much respected community member and was never shy when it came to speaking her mind. She was always honest, as she believed honesty was the best policy. She was outgoing and loved to travel, especially on her girl trips to Las Vegas, Wendover, Louisiana and Kickapoo. She would help everyone and anyone when she could and was a huge help when it came to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Eloy Moreno, Jr. and Daniel “Danny” Moreno; all her brothers, Juventino Villarreal, Jr., Marcos Villarreal, Andres Villarreal, Alejandro Villarreal, Samuel Villarreal and Rodolfo Villarreal and her sisters, Noemi Ramirez and Delma Robbins.
She leaves behind to cherish her memories her son, Al Moreno of Plano, Texas; daughters, Dalia (Aaron) Sarmiento, Lydia Moreno and Nori (Rumaldo) Casas all of Falfurrias; sister, Rosalinda (Michael) Mendez of Ricardo, Texas; eight grandchildren, Donny Perez, Anita Perez, Tony Perez, Jennifer Perez, Christopher Lee Garza, Homero Casas, Marcos Casas and Ruben “RJ” Casas; 23 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members and friends.
Pallbearers will be her six grandsons, Donny Perez, Tony Perez, Chris Garza, Homero Casas, Marcos Casas and Ruben “RJ” Casas. Honorary Pallbearers will be Miranda Nino and Jacob Daniel Esquivel.
Rosary will be prayed at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, September 3, 2021 at the Funeraria Del Angel Howard Williams with Visitation beginning at 9:30 a.m. Funeral Mass will follow at 12:00 p.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Falfurrias and services will conclude with Burial at the Sacred Heart Cemetery.
