Former Brooks County Justice of the Peace, Adela Quintanilla, passed away Tuesday, February 14, 2023 a few days shy of her 78th birthday after succumbing to sudden health issues. Adela was born on February 18, 1945 to Donato Quintanilla and Tomasa Lopez in Falfurrias, Texas. She was a loving mother and a doting grandmother and great-grandmother who adored them tremendously.
Adela served seven years as Brooks County Justice of the Peace for Precinct 1 and numerous years prior as a Secretary alongside J.P. Morales. She was respected among the community members for her dedication and service to the job, as she did it with fairness and loyalty for the people she assisted. Adela was strong in her Catholic faith and would attend Saturday mass regularly. She would devotedly participate in prayer sessions with Marty Cabrera and pray for her community members needing prayer.
Preceding Adela in death are her parents; brother, Manuel “Nickies” Quintanilla and great-granddaughter, Maci Adele Barrera.
Left to reminisce on the memories she leaves behind are her three sons, Joe Guerra, Danny Robledo and Lando Robledo all of Falfurrias; daughter, Adriana (Ernest Hernandez) Quintanilla of Pasadena, Texas; sister, Diana (Isidro) Guerrero of Houston, Texas; 11 grandchildren, Ashley Q. (Ryan) Boerjan, Bobby Barrera, Dana Barrera, Andrea Barrera, Zanda (Cameron) Griffing, Vida Robledo, Raudel Robledo, Jr., Amber Robledo, Edward Robledo, Devin Robledo and Elijah Robledo; eight great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Pallbearers will be Bobby Barrera, Cameron Griffing, Ernest Hernandez, Alfred Guerrero, Edward Guerrero and Landito Robledo. Honorary pallbearers are Ryan Boerjan , Rolando Garza and Benny Martinez.
Rosary will be prayed at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, February 24, 2023 at the Funeraria Del Angel Howard Williams in Falfurrias with Visitation beginning at 5:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 25, 2023 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Falfurrias and services will conclude with burial at the Falfurrias Burial Park.
