William "Bill" Ernst Ratz

Bill was born September 30, 1934 in St. Louis, MO to Karl and Marie (Wiesler) Ratz. He married Judy Mitchell on January 3, 1977 in Fairview Heights, IL. She survives and resides in Fairview Heights, IL.

Also surviving are his daughters, Catherine (Andrew Rios) Ratz of St. Louis, MO, Susan (Brian) Ratz-Hall of St. Louis, MO; step-children, Kimberly (Michael) Butz of St. Louis, MO and Todd (Kendall) Mangicaro of Overland Park, KS; grandchildren, Gabriella, Reid, Rachel, Jennifer, Gregory, Jacqueline, Geoffrey, Garret, Dylan, Grace and Oliver; great-grandchildren, Remington, Kennedy, Emersyn and Landry; two sisters, Rose Marie Mistler and Carol (Jack) Willisch; and nieces and nephews.

Bill was preceded in death by his siblings, Karl (Marie) Ratz, Jeanette Ratz and Marian Wolfmeyer.

Bill proudly served his country in the United States Army. He was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Fairview Heights, IL.

For 44 devoted years, he worked as a payroll supervisor with the St. Louis Public Schools Board of Education.

Bill and Judy spent much of their time dancing, going on gambling adventures and watching the horse races. They shared a wonderful life together, making memories that will be cherished forever.

Bill loved his family dearly and the time they shared. He will truly be missed by everyone who knew and loved him.

Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.

VISITATION: A visitation for Bill will be held on Tuesday, April 5, 2022 from 9:00 A.M.- 11:00 A.M. at Lake View Funeral Home, Fairview Heights, IL.

FUNERAL: A funeral will be held immediately following the visitation, at 11:00 A.M. Interment will follow at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, MO, where military honors will be rendered.
