Thomas Virgil Strenfel

Thomas Virgil Strenfel, 87, of O’Fallon, passed away Wednesday, May 1, 2024. He was born February 5, 1937 in Poplar Bluff, Missouri to Valentine and Gertie (Husky) Strenfel. Tom was a dedicated member of the army reserves for 10 years. He married Erlene Haines in 1978 at First Baptist Church in Fairview Heights. Tom was also a talented mechanic who had a passion for fixing things and working with his hands. He was employed as a mechanic with Sears for 35 years. Tom was also a member at First Baptist Church O’Fallon. One of Tom’s greatest joys was watching hummingbirds in his yard. He had over 8 feeders and often over a 100 birds. Above all else, Tom cherish his beloved dog, Teeko, who was his loyal companion and constant source of love and comfort. Tom will be deeply missed by his family, friends and all who knew him.

Surviving to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 45 years, Erlene H. Strenfel; sons, David (Dianne) Strenfel, Bruce (Karen) Behrens and Ron (Laurenda) Behrens; grandchildren, Morgan Strenfel, Brock (Schadea) Strenfel and Brooks Behrens; brother, Johnny Strenfel and several other extended special family members, Justin, Meghan, Jordann, Kobe, Calvin, Lauren, Kaylee, Zachary, Kara, Bodie, Tripp and Connor. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Rose Martin; brothers, Fred Strenfel and Carl Strenfel and extended family, Skyler.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, May 11, 2024 from 10:00am to 12:00pm in Lake View Funeral Home, 5000 N. Illinois St., Fairview Heights, IL 62208. A funeral service will follow at 12:00pm in the funeral home with Pastor Doug Munton and Tom Dawson officiating. Interment will follow in Lake View Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions can be made to First Baptist Church O'Fallon or Heartland Hospice.
