Steven M. Friedeck, 64, of O’Fallon, Illinois, was tragically taken from us during the historic storms on April 4, 2025, in Ste. Genevieve, Missouri. He was born on July 2, 1960, in Centreville, Illinois. Steven attended Redondo Beach High School and earned two associate degrees at community colleges in California and Illinois.
Steve was preceded in death by his mother, Diana Haskins, grandmother Lorene Mitchell, dear family friend Rev. Clara Ruth Russell, sister Rhonda, and brothers James Tarrow and Stan Tarrow.
He is survived by his dad Clifford (Marilyn) Friedeck; JoAnn Friedeck; daughter Heidi (Steve), step-children Janice (Dave), and Jennifer (Paul); sisters Nicki, Vicki, and Tandra; brothers Doug, Alex, Ronny, and Patrick; grandchildren J.R., Shane, Jonah, Joseph, and Jacob; special friend Annie, his beloved blue and yellow macaw Beamer; numerous nieces and nephews, countless friends, co-workers, and strangers he helped who we may never know the impact he may have made on their lives.
There were no strangers to Steve, only friends he hadn’t yet met. He was the embodiment of a brother’s keeper. Anyone who knows Steve has a story of how he made them laugh, made them feel seen and heard, or a quiet deed to do good for someone else.
He will always be remembered for his love of cooking, music, surfing, skateboarding, kayaking, four-wheeling, outdoors, optimism, and passion for humanity and this beautiful world.
