Rory was born December 30, 1951 in East St. Louis, IL.
He married Pamela Solomon on August 31, 1968 in East St. Louis, IL. Together they shared 54 wonderful years of marriage. She survives and resides in Perryville, MO.
Also surviving are his children, Toni (Todd) Wobbe of Shipman, IL, Carol (Mike) Brown of Swansea, IL and Rory “Greg” (Andrea Arnold) Perry Jr., of Damiansville, IL; grandchildren, Ashley (Brandon Zackrie) Burrus, Abigail (Adam) Biekert, Andrea (Mallory) Sasak, Rory “Trey” Perry III, Alexis Perry, Sarah (Mike) Davis, Jacob (Rachel) Brown and Jessica (Jeremy Dawley) Brown; great-grandchildren, Ayden, Jaxon, Kennedy, Cal, Dominick and Carter; his sister, Paula (Dennis) Jackson of Highland, IL; and numerous friends and dear family.
Rory was preceded in death by his father and his mother, Isabella Gimpel Perry.
Rory was a machinist for the railroad for 42 years, beginning his career with Gulf, Mobile and Ohio Railroad and retiring from Kansas City Southern. Rory and Pam enjoyed retirement and their time living in Perryville, MO. He spent his free-time maintaining his beautiful yard. He loved to bar-b-que grill, especially making his famous succulent chicken for all to enjoy. He always appreciated the simple things life had to offer. Above all else, he loved his family dearly and cherished the time he was able to spend with them. He will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Southeast Hospice, St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital or to Shriners Hospital for Children.
A memorial visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 23, 2022 from 11:00 A.M.- 1:00 P.M. at Lake View Funeral Home, Fairview Heights, IL.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Pastor Dwight Jackson will officiate. Final interment will follow at Lake View Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights, IL.
