

He was born in Bronx, New York on August 15, 1954 to Evan and Carmen Davey. Peter had one brother, Paul and two sisters, Paulette and Naomi. Peter attended Longwood High School in Long Island, New York and graduated in 1972. A year later, he joined the United States Air Force in October 1973 as a B-52 Aircraft Maintenance Technician/Aircrew. He would eventually go on to learn new skill sets and work on many different aircraft. He was a Flying Crew Chief, Line Chief, Flight Engineer, and Expeditor on C-5A, CT-39A, C-140A/B, and C-9 aircraft. He played a vital role in the Vietnam War and Operation Desert Shield and Desert Storm. His duties consisted of but not limited to, performing and directing maintenance on aircrafts that provided aerial strikes, cargo support, and troop/executive transport. Peter also was a Instructional System Designer. He designed and developed training curriculum for the Air Force. Peter's last duty was Interactive Video Designer. This is where he honed his skills and passion for photography and videography. Peter Davey served the United States military, honorably for 20 years and his highest rank held was Technical Sergeant. He earned two Air Force Commendation Medals, one Air Force Achievement Medal and directly contributed to his unit earning six Air Force Outstanding Unit Awards.
Before his retirement, he earned an Associates Degree in Applied Science from the Community College of the Air Force in June 1993. By doing so, he became the first person in his family to go to college. But he didn't stop there. After the military, he obtained both his Associates Degree in Arts at Belleville Area College and Bachelor's Degree in Workforce Education and Development at Southern Illinois University Carbondale in May 1994.
Peter started his second career working for the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (IEPA) as a State Inspector in 1995. His job was to inspect automobiles and determine whether their vehicle's emissions were safe for the environment. While he worked for the IEPA, Peter found time to substitute teach on his days off. When he was not substitute teaching at elementary schools to high schools, he was studying for his Masters Degree in Management and Business from National Louis University and he received his degree in June 1999. Peter soon found himself teaching part-time at Lindenwood University's Masters Program in Human Resource Development and Leadership. And he continued working both jobs until he retired in 2016 from the IEPA after 21 years of successful service working for the State of Illinois.
Peter Davey married Magdalena Davey on February 20, 1979 in Alameda, California, when he was stationed at Travis Air Force Base. They shared 45 years of marriage and together, they have 3 children: Peter Jr., Michael, and Nicholas.
Peter had a passion for coin collecting, cars, dancing, photography, fishing, singing, movies, and music. He will always be remembered for his love of music.
He was preceded in death by his Father: Evan Davey, Mother: Carmen Davey, Twin Sister: Paulette, Brother: Paul.
Peter Davey Sr. is survived by his Wife: Magdalena; Sons: Peter Davey and wife Angel, Michael Davey and wife Ashley, and Nicholas Davey and wife Rachel; Grand-Children: Rocco, Jaiden, Michael Jr., Emersyn, Jaxon, and Elijah; Sister: Naomi Pinto; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
A visitation for Peter will be held on Thursday, March 28, 2024 from 4:00 P.M.- 7:00 P.M. at Lake View Funeral Home, Fairview Heights, IL.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, March 29, 2024 at 10:30 A.M. at the funeral home. Final interment will follow at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, MO, where full military honors will be rendered.
A lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of the donor's choice in Peter's name.
