Lois F. Bright

She was born in Oklahoma, but her family later moved to Lefors, TX, where she attended high school. Lois was a homemaker when her children were young, then later worked as an assistant manager at Hardee’s at St. Clair Square. She married her soulmate, Dale, on April 25, 1969 and they spent 42 wonderful years together before he passed away in 2011. Lois enjoyed gardening, canning goods, and singing karaoke with her friends, but above all else, she treasured spending time with her family, especially her grandkids. Lois was a kind and loving woman that made friends anywhere she went. She will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Johnnie J. Jackson and Catherine E. (nee Martin) Jackson; her beloved husband of 42 years, Floyd Dale Bright; first husband, Thomas Wade Taylor; step-daughter, Janet Lynn Scheller; brothers, Leon Jackson and Jason Lee Jackson; and sisters, Ramona Bradley and Genon DeVaney.

Surviving to cherish her memory are her son, Ronald (Cindy) Bright; daughter, Tina Hammer; step-daughter, Belinda MacDonald; brother, Tommy Jackson; sister, Patricia Rowell; grandchildren, Melissa Gunter, Michael Hammer, Krystin Hammer, Ronald “Jake” Bright II, Mary MacDonald, Lisa Lester, and Billy Ray MacDonald; 23 great-grandchildren; plus many loving friends and extended family.

Visitation will be held on Monday, August 28, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, at Lake View Funeral Home, Fairview Heights, IL, followed by a funeral service at 12:00 PM. She will be laid to rest at Lake View Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights, IL.
