Kimball L Ford, 66, of O'Fallon, IL passed away surrounded by the love of those he held close to his heart on Friday, February 9, 2024, at 208 Ellen Lane O'Fallon, IL after a courageous battle with dementia and cancer. Kimball was born January 3, 1958, at Tripler Army Hospital in Oaha, Hawaii, to the late Kennath L. Ford and Wilma Estelle Foster. He graduated from Mascoutah High School in 1976. During high school Kimball worked at Scott AFB, IL at the base commissary bagging groceries. He joined the U.S. Navy and went to San Diego, California for boot camp August 1976. He was assigned to the U.S.S. Independence in Norfolk, Virginia as a E-4 -Yeoman Petty Officer III in Norfolk, Virginia from Sept 1976-Aug 1980. From Aug 1980-1984, Kimball served as an E-5 Yeoman at Great Lakes, IL working in the Legal office for Mater Arms. He was honorably discharged July 1984. Kimball returned home to O'Fallon, IL and worked at Moto Mart in Fairview Heights, IL as a cashier and customer Service till Sept 1984. He then moved to Oklahoma City, OK. He began working for ICO Rodco as a Yard Supervisor/ Forklift Driver. He left ICO Rodco on February 1988. He returned home in O'Fallon; IL and started his own Home Repair Business as a handyman. He married Geraldine Lee Hawthorne on October 15, 1994. They divorced June 6, 2010.
At the end of August of 2008, he went to NuWay Driving Training School in Saint Louis. MO. Graduated in November of 2008. He went to work for Covenant Transportation in Knoxville, TN driving 18 wheelers all over the United States. In July 2011, he left Convent Transportation, and he started his Home Repair Business. Kimball went to work at LTI Trucking in Saint Louis, MO as a Solo Truck Driver. In Sept 2018, he gave up truck driving and retired. Kimball loved travelling with his parents and family. He loved riding his Goldwing motorcycle with his father. Trips to Bunker to see his cousins and the Foster family with his brothers were one of his favorites.
He was preceded in death by his parents Kennath L. Ford and Wilma Estell Ford, 3 brothers Dennis, Kenny (PO) and Danny Ford. Kimball is survived by his 2 sisters: Gwendolyn (Doyle) Cloud of O'Fallon, IL; Cynthia (Donnie) Kane of Shiloh, IL. Also surviving are a host of nieces and nephews that he loved very much. Survived by his best friend, Doug Martin, which he has known since grade school. He loved their family so much.
A celebration in honor of Kimball's life will be held at 1:00 PM, Friday, February 9, 2024, at Lakeview Funeral Home, 5000 N. Illinois St., Fairview Heights, IL 62208 with a visitation from 11:00am until time of service. A graveside service will follow in Lake View Memorial Gardens.
