June was a member of First Baptist Church in Belleville for 50 years where she was active in many roles, including teaching Sunday School. A dedicated member of the Mission Society, Deborah Circle and ABW, she frequently volunteered leadership where needed.
June graduated Chester High School in 1951 as valedictorian to become a 1955 graduate of SIU – Carbondale and to teach 5th grade in Godfrey for four years. She did at-home childcare, volunteered at church and her children’s school, managed a local American Heart Association office, and assisted her husband in their mail order wood carving business. She was an amazing homemaker and cook, frequently welcoming friends and family in her home for a visit, dessert, or a meal. She and her husband loved to travel and enjoyed countless trips and vacations with friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Harry E. and Mabel E. (Adams) Weber, by brothers, Alden, Bill, Harry, Lester and Roger Weber and by sisters, Dorothy Melzer and Melba Thies.
She is survived by her husband, F. Gene Wilson, a son Randall E. Wilson DDS (Dawn) and a daughter, Wendy Wilson Reitz (Randy); two grandsons Ian Wilson and Derek Reitz and one granddaughter Lauren B. Wilson DMD (Derek Donahou); numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins - as well as many friends, “who have been like family”.
Her greatest happiness and strength were her faith in God as she will be remembered as a true and loyal disciple of Christ. She was admired by all who knew her and benefited from her kind heart and gracious spirit.
The family gratefully acknowledges the devoted staff at both Brightly Senior Living and Meridian Village, as well as the incredible VITAS staff and nurses.
