HIGHLAND, IL- John L. “Jack” Penn, Jr., 67, of Highland, Illinois, passed away on Thursday, December 10, 2020, of a heart attack at his home. Jack was born on March 24, 1953, to John Sr. and Carol (nee Jackson) Penn, in East St. Louis, Illinois. They preceded him in death. Jack grew up in Fairview Heights, IL.
Jack was founder of Penn Builders, LLC, and worked in construction his whole life. He took great pride in his work and acquired a vast knowledge and expertise in all the many facets of the home construction and remodeling fields. He started teaching these skills to his sons when they were fourteen years old and because he had a true gift of teaching, his sons now possess that knowledge passed on to them from their father. First and foremost, he passed on to them his example of honoring God and thanking Him for His blessings and in the importance of integrity and honesty in all of their dealings. He was a faithful, godly man, a leader, a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was an exceptional man who will be greatly missed by all who loved him dearly.
He had no fear of death. He knew this world was not his home and that God, at the appointed time, would call him to his true home in heaven to be with his precious Lord and Savior. He is now worshipping with the saints in heaven, but, oh, those left behind will miss him greatly.
He leaves behind his wife of 44 years, Sue (Montgomery) Penn and his beloved sons and daughters-in-law, John III (Bethany) Penn, Jim (Leslie) Penn and this three beloved grandsons, Stan Penn, Logan Penn and Ben Penn. He also leaves behind his brothers and sisters, Gary (Diane) Penn, Mike (Marianne) Penn, Sharon (Kenny) Mell, Karen (Keith) Gass, Kevin Penn and Tommy Penn.
Visitation and services will be held for Jack on Tuesday, December 15, 2020 from 11:00 A.M.- 1:00 P.M. at Lake View Funeral Home, Fairview Heights, IL. Interment will be held at 1:00 P.M. following the visitation, at Lake View Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights, IL.
