Jerry Wayne Christopher

Jerry Wayne Christopher, 76, of Collinsville, passed away at his home Friday, June 30, 2023. He was born December 23, 1946 in East St. Louis to Elmer and Rita (Hodson) Christopher. In 1965, Jerry joined the Laborers Union Local 44. He married the love of his life, Georgia McCormick, on March 12, 1966 in East St. Louis. Jerry was a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps. He was drafted during the Vietnam War and stationed at Camp Pendleton from March of 1966 to 1968. Jerry retired from Ameren at the age of 62 and gave 50 years to the Laborers Union. His generosity and service to the community will be remembered by those at the Collinsville Senior Center and the Collinsville Food Pantry, where he volunteered for 8 years. Jerry was steadfast in his faith, proudly driving the church bus for 3 years. He enjoyed going to the show, golfing with his buddies, and visiting his lake friends and family in Vandalia. Above all, he was devoted to his family, and he was the heart of it.

Survivors left to cherish his memory include his wife of 57 years, Georgia Christopher; son, Jerry (Cindy) Christopher; daughter, Jeana (Kayla) Christopher; grandchildren, Cayla and Jared Christopher, and Drew Christopher; sisters, Laura (Jim) Worley, Paula (Gary) Grzywacz, and Pricilla (Ron) O’Bryan; special sister-in-laws and brother-in-laws and numerous nieces and nephews. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents and first son.

A funeral service for Jerry will be held on Thursday, July 6, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at Lake View Funeral Home, 5000 N. Illinois St., Fairview Heights, IL 62208 with a visitation from 11:00 a.m. until time of service. A graveside service with military honors will follow. Memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
