I am thinking of you all and love you!  I am so thankful Shirley has such strong sons to be there for her. 

Jeffery was the kindest, sweetest boy in our school! Condolences to his friend and family.

Jeff was a brilliant and extraordinary person to work with. He was modest, helpful, and always carried a positive affect. Jeff was fantastic to work with. It breaks my heart knowing that he left us far too soon. My thoughts and prayers are with his family.

I'm very sorry to hear of Jeff's passing.  We never met in person but we chatted, Zoomed and e-mailed several times over the past few years at K-State.  Jeff was always helpful and usually offered a bit of his humor to the conversation.  He will be missed.

Jeff and I worked on a lot of problems over the years and I always enjoyed his energy, mental sharpness, and ability to get things done.  He was involved in a lot of stressful situations and Jeff's ability to navigate those rough waters was a benefit to us all.  Where Kansas State exists today technically is due a lot to Jeff.  I will miss him. Rest in peace my friend.

I was deeply saddened to hear about the loss of our colleague Jeff, who was not only a great teammate but also a remarkable leader and strong technical contributor. Please accept my heartfelt condolences during this difficult time.

I worked with Jeff for a little over seven years at Kansas State University where he served as an IT Architect for the Division of Information Technology. Jeff's presence in our team was truly invaluable. As a teammate, he was always patient and willing to explain things so that others could understand and never made you feel stupid. His unwavering support and willingness to lend a helping hand created an atmosphere of camaraderie and collaboration. Jeff had a knack of approaching stressful situations and difficult conversations with humor and that resulted in an overall lowering of the temperature in the room. Jeff's strong work ethic and dedication to excellence served as a constant source of motivation for all of us. Whether it was tackling complex challenges or finding ingenious solutions, Jeff's technical prowess was awe-inspiring. Jeff’s contributions not only elevated our team's performance but also left a lasting impact on the projects we undertook together.

I specifically wanted to mention the countless hours Jeff spent helping Kansas State recover from the Hale fire that occurred May 22, 2018, including a multi-year recovery to modernize our IT capabilities with the cloud. It was one of the most difficult time periods in the history of Kansas State University and Jeff was at the forefront of helping recover and advance our capabilities.

Jeff was a shining star at Kansas State and his impact on the University will be felt for many years to come!

Jeff was a brilliant and dedicated colleague at K-State. Whenever there were difficult questions or unknown next steps, Jeff was always relied upon heavily to know or find the answer. He had a great sense of humor that he used to lighten the mood when things were stressful and never seemed to be rattled, even when situations were bleak.

One of the things he did often, that always made me smile, when talking through a solution or troubleshooting an issue is throwing out the phrase "my mind just totally went blank!" It was funny to me because he would be in mid-sentence about a solution or recommendation, pause long enough to say "my mind just totally went blank", and then pick right back up where he left off, usually ending up with the next steps or plans the team needed! 

Jeff made a huge impact at K-State and he will be sorely missed. I am glad to have worked with and learned from him. Condolences to all of his family and friends!

I'm so sorry for your loss. Jeff was a pleasure to work with. Jeff solved so many problems and was always so patient and explained things so well. He had such a positive attitude and I feel like he could fix anything.  Kansas State was lucky to have him as an employee. He will certainly be missed. Prayers for you and your family.

Jeff was a kind and helpful problem solver. It was great working with him and very sorry to hear of his passing. 

I am sad today but have a smile on my face with many memories of Jeff. Jeff, hands down, was one of the most genuine, honest, and knowledgeable individuals I had the pleasure of knowing. I was lucky to have had the opportunity to work with him.  I am also truly thankful for the help he provided and always with a smile on his face. In IT we are rough on each other, but he carried with him grace. I wasn't worried to tell him I didn't know something. I do wonder if he liked it better that way, as he was then able to share his information. Thank you, Jeff, for sharing a moment in time with me and you will be missed, but remembered. 

Jeff was such a great addition to us here in Information Technology.  His expertise was 2nd to NONE!!  I truly appreciated working with him and his wit always kept a smile on my face.  He helped my team through several issues, which I will always be grateful for!

Jeff was kind, funny, and would help wherever he could.  I looked forward to hearing what Jeff had to add to any conversation.  

He has been missed and I hope his memories will put a smile in your heart, as they have for me.  



We pause today to remember our dear colleague, Jeff Van Hoose, whose work and personality have had a significant impact on our organization.
Jeff first joined us as a contracted employee in 2013, quickly proving his worth and earning a full-time position by 2016. His technical skills were immediately evident, as he adeptly helped migrate our critical workloads from Solaris Unix to Linux. This was no small feat, and it was carried out with a level of dedication and precision that became hallmarks of Jeff's work.
In the face of adversity, Jeff remained a constant source of calm and assurance. His role in our recovery from the Hale fire disaster was both significant and inspiring, as he worked tirelessly to restore operations in our data center.
Further showcasing his technological expertise, Jeff was instrumental in migrating our mission-critical workloads into AWS and VMC cloud services. His forward-thinking approach and understanding of the potential in cloud technologies guided us towards a more efficient and dynamic way of working.
In addition to his technical contributions, Jeff was a great mentor and teacher. He took it upon himself to create excellent documentation and training videos, ensuring that his knowledge and expertise could be shared among our team. His dedication to the growth and development of his colleagues is a testament to his generous spirit.
Above all, what we will remember most about Jeff is his unwavering kindness. Regardless of the situation, he always approached it with a positive attitude and a friendly disposition. His warmth and kindness helped to create a more supportive and collaborative environment for us all.
As we reflect on Jeff's life and work, we remember a colleague who was not just technically proficient, but also kind and supportive. His legacy will live on in our team and we will strive to carry forward the values he embodied in his work and interactions with us all. His absence will be felt, but his impact won't be forgotten
