Jim was born May 11, 1938 in East St. Louis, IL to James and Helen (Bryant) Falk. He married Darlene A. Mendell on October 18, 1958 at St. Elizabeth Church in East St. Louis, IL. She preceded him in death on December 20, 2023.
Also preceding him in death were his parents, Jim and Helen Falk; in-laws, Max and Mary (Schubert) Mendell; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Maxine and Raymond Zielinski.
Surviving are his children, Debra (Bret) Eastridge of Swansea, IL, Jim (Kim) Falk of Swansea, IL, and Darla Falk of Belleville, IL; four grandsons, Mike Sahr of Belleville, IL, Ryan Falk, Adam Falk and Alek Falk, all of Swansea, IL; niece, Allison Zielinski of Swansea, IL and nephew, Max Zielinski of Twentynine Palms, California.
Jim worked and retired after many years of dedicated service as a Supervisor of Underground Construction with Ameren Missouri. After his retirement, he kept himself busy working for McKay Auto Parts and more recently, at Dollar Tree in Swansea, retiring in 2022.
Jim loved stock-car racing, cutting his lawn with his tractor, restoring antique cars and playing softball. He enjoyed the time spent with his close friends, Randy Bickel, Tom Bleisch and Bobby Bittle. He always looked forward to the get-togethers with his Assumption High School friends, as well.
Jim and Darlene loved visiting the casino and trying their luck on scratch-off lottery tickets.
Jim loved his family and the time he was able to spend with them. His loss leaves a void in the hearts of his family and friends, but knowing he and Darlene are together again brings them much comfort.
Memorial donations in Jim’s name may be given to Hospice of Southern Illinois. The family would also like to share a special thank you to Hospice of Southern Illinois, Gloria Garner and Jescika Garner for their care and compassion shown to their entire family in the last few months.
A visitation for Jim will be held on Friday, February 2, 2024 from 10:00 A.M.- 12:00 P.M. at Lake View Funeral Home.
A funeral service will follow the visitation, at 12:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Final interment will be held at Lake View Funeral Home, Fairview Heights, IL. Father Clyde Grogan will officiate.
