James "Jay" Lowery Parker

Jay was born October 18, 1929 in Van Buren, AR to William Henry and Faye Marie (Swaim) Parker. He married Virginia Lee Parker on June 4, 1949; she preceded him in death on January 22, 2011.

He was also preceded in death by his infant daughter, Marie Elaine; and his two brothers and two sisters.

Jay is survived by his children, James “Jim” (Flo) Parker of Monument, CO, Paul (Carol) Parker of Tilden, IL, John William Parker of Freeburg, IL, Kathleen (Randy) Harris of Alum Creek, WV, Michael (Geri) Parker of Belleville, IL and David Parker of Collinsville, IL; five grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Mary Parker of Collinsville, IL.

Jay proudly served his country in the United States Army Reserves for 18 years, and then continued his career with the USPS as a mail carrier for many years. He was an active and devoted member of First Baptist Church of Fairview Heights for 55 years. In years past, he loved golfing, bowling and hunting in his free time. Above all else, Jay loved people and striking up conversations wherever he could. He easily made new friends and was never a stranger to anyone. He will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Memorial donations may be made to the First Baptist Church in Fairview Heights, IL.

Cremation rites will be accorded and a Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 7, 2021 at 11:00 A.M. at Lake View Funeral Home in Fairview Heights, IL. Visitation will be held an hour prior, from 10:00 A.M.- 11:00 A.M. Inurnment will follow at Lake View Memorial Gardens.
