Gloria J. Sherland

Gloria J. Sherland, nee Weber, 73, of Belleville, Illinois, born in Belleville, Illinois, on July 15, 1941, passed away peacefully at her residence with her family by her side on Saturday, July 11, 2015.

Gloria was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved being a childcare provider in her home for many years. She liked cooking and baking her favorite recipes for family events. Her cookies were awesome! She enjoyed her daily walks with friends. She enjoyed camping with family and spending time at all her family events.

Gloria was a devoted member of St. Paul United Church of Christ in Belleville and a member of the Fireside Club through her church. She will be dearly missed by all those who knew her loving, caring spirit.

Gloria was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Viola Weber; her husband, Eugene "Gene" Sherland; and her two sons, David and James Sherland.

Surviving are her sisters, Evelyn Myers and Elaine Weber; her son Kenneth (Maria) Sherland; daughter-in-law, Deanna Sherland; her grandchildren, Matthew and Wayne Sherland, Gregory and Travis Sherland, and Jacquelynn (Kyle) Smith; her great-grandchildren, Bella and Benjamin Smith; nephew Glenn Myers; niece Debbie Mullins; and her great-nephew and niece, Josh and Charity Havens.

Gloria's family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the wonderful nurses and staff of Hospice of Southern Illinois. We thank you very much for showing so much compassion in your care for Gloria and your concern for our well being as well. God bless you for providing comfort and dignity to Gloria in the final months of her life.
