Don Merrell

Mr. Merrell was a United States Navy veteran who served in World War II. He retired in 1984, after 34 years of service from Nooter Corporation, St. Louis, Mo.

He was a member of Towerview Baptist Church and he enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and boating.

Don was preceded in death by his parents, William and Maxine, nee Tharp, Merrell.

Surviving are his loving wife of 63 years, Bobbie, nee Coleman, Merrell of O'Fallon, Ill.; his children, Sue Merrell of Grand Rapids, Mich., Tom (Rene) Merrell of Houston, Texas, Bruce (Janet) Merrell of Walnut Hill, Ill., and John Merrell of St. Charles, Mo.; grandchildren, Ryan (Angie) Wallace of Grand Rapids, Mich., Luke Merrell of Houston, Texas, Shelby Merrell of Belleville, Ill., and Lauren Merrell of St. Charles, Mo.; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Memorials may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

Visitation: Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 12, 2009, at Lake View Funeral Home, Fairview Heights, Ill.

Funeral: Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 13, 2009, at Lake View Funeral Home with Pastor Ron Woods officiating.

Interment will be held in Lake View Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights, Ill.
