Dave was born March 30, 1940 in Chester, PA to Alva Leroy and Edith Roberta (Reed) Seal.
At 16, David quit school and worked for his Uncle at a variety store in Pennsylvania, then drove a dump truck for several years before moving to Florida. In Florida, he worked for Peninsula Transport as an over-the-road trucker. On one of his many trips from Florida to Illinois, he met Dee at The Potting Shed while unloading plants. When he hopped out of his truck, it was love at first sight. They were married on January 1, 1995 at Dee’s sister, Virginia’s home, in Caseyville, IL. Together, shared many years and countless memories together. She survives and resides in Caseyville, IL.
Dave enjoyed the simple things in life, sitting in his lawn chair visiting with his neighbors, truck talk with the boys, cowboy boots, old cowboy movies and game shows. Dave could often be found, in his pajamas with his cowboy boots on, putting puzzles together, which is one of the memories that brings a smile to the faces of those he loved. He enjoyed watching his grandsons in Tae Kwon Do and trumpet playing. He often took bike rides around the neighborhood and enjoyed watching the squirrels that frequent the feeding stations in the backyard. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan and watching attending the games with Dee.
Above all else, he loved his family and cherished their time together, especially his trips to Florida for the holidays to visit his children.
Dave’s loss leaves a void but his memory will live on forever in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
Surviving are his children, Sheila Brooking, Keith Seal, Kevin Seal, Virginia (William) Watson, Tammy Jo (Bud) Riddell, Karl Seal, Michael (Teena) Seal, all of Florida; son, Richard Seal, deceased (Ted Bruce); step-children, Margo (Vickie Corkhill) Mason of St. Louis, MO, Marcia (Brian) Villhard of O’Fallon, IL; and numerous beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents Alva and Edith Seal.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or to the Special Olympics.
