Mr. Mondy worked for the Illinois Railroad from 1943 to 1956.
Charles started working for Ameren UE at the Cahokia, IL. plant in 1956 and retired in 1987 as a supervisor from the Sioux Plant.
He served in the U.S. Navy Air Force from October 1944 until his honorable discharge in September 1946.
In addition to his love for his family, he enjoyed traveling, cooking and baking and painting ceramics. He was a DCHS Class of 45 graduate and kept in touch with many of his former classmates. He also enjoyed fishing and visiting with his many Jonathan Landing condo friends at the Lake of he Ozarks.
Mr. Mondy was preceded in death by his parents, Milton and Edna Mondy, (nee Barnett)., brother, Jack Mondy and an infant sister, Barbara Jean, his brothers-in-law Hirchel Hill and Ferdinand Wachter and sisters-in-law Mary Hill and Eleanora Mondy.
Surviving is his devoted wife, Gloria L. Mondy (nee Wachter) of 73 years; Son, Terry L. (Susan) Mondy of St. Jacob, IL; Grandchildren, Katie L Mondy Hughes (Steve) of Glen Carbon, IL, Kerrie A. (Jeff) Schaefer of St. Charles, MO and Dr. Christopher M. Mondy of St. Jacob, IL. Also surviving are his nephews Hirchel (Linda) Hill Jr. of Belleville, IL., Richard A Hill of Centerton, AR.; Nieces, Renee (Brad) Stout of Webster Groves, MO and Kathy (Dr. Ned) Radich of Austin, TX.
The family is requesting no donations or flowers be sent at this time.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until the hour of service on Saturday, February 19, 2022 from the Event Center of Lake View Funeral Home.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, February 19, 2022 from the event center of Lake View Funeral Home.
Entombment will follow at Lake View Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
