Ed proudly served his country, retiring from the United States Air Force as a Master Sergeant. After his military retirement, he attended SIUE and received his Bachelor’s in Criminal Justice. He served for a decade as an investigator for Court Services and Probation with the 20th Judicial Circuit Court in St. Clair County, Illinois. Upon retiring fully, he and his wife, Jo Ann, enjoyed traveling around the United States in their RV. Ed was an amazing artist who was known for his charactures and even worked as a cartoonist with the Belleville News Democrat. He also loved photography, capturing many of the family’s precious memories of weddings, events and gatherings. He enjoyed woodworking, leatherworking, target shooting and reloading ammunition. All who knew him will miss his wonderful sense of humor and caring nature.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Teryl Lynn; his father, Cecil Shaver; his mother, Ruth Floyd, nee Barger, and her husband, Harlan Floyd; his sister, Patricia Bomar; a nephew, Eddie Bomar; and a son-in-law, Darrell Van Brocklin.
Surviving to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Jo Ann Shaver, nee Lebruska, of Freeburg, IL, whom he married on September 7, 1955; his children, Cheryl Van Brocklin, of Las Vegas, NV, Diana (Ray) Bacon, of Atascadero, CA, Laura (Dennis) Rea, of Du Quoin, IL, Lynda (Bob) Wallace, of Smithton, IL, Edwin “Buzz” (Iralonna) Shaver, of Valmeyer, IL, and Michael “Mike” (Jeanenne Lambert) Shaver , of Lake St. Louis, MO; his grandchildren, Jamie, Devin, Dana, Jessica “Paige”, Kelly, Gary, Shannon, Brook, Lindsay, Brian, Steven, Alex, Kayla, Marc, Alyssa, Rob, Ken, Justin, Corey, and Heather; his many great grandchildren; a brother, Ron Shaver; his niece and nephew, Patti Bomar and Jamie Bomar; and many other relatives and friends.
