Bernice A. Heckert Warning

Bernice A. Warning, nee Heckert, 90, of Fairview Heights, Illinois, born, April 8, 1924 in Stone Church, Illinois, died on Sunday, April 27, 2014 at Caseyville Nursing and Rehab Center in Caseyville, Illinois.

Mrs. Warning was a retired medical laboratory technician. She was a charter and active member of St. John United Church of Christ in Fairview Heights, Illinois, since 1951. Bernice served the mission of St. John in many ways, from Sunday school teacher to Church Council member, and served on two pastoral search committees. She served on the Conference Council of the Illinois South Conference of the UCC. She was an “Honored Laywoman” at the 2001 General Synod of the United Church of Christ. She was involved in the formation of the Fairview Heights Food Pantry and actively worked until the last few years. Bernice was a member of the Queen City Chapter 697 O.E.S., and a former member of the Belleville Area Rose Society.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edgar Warning, her parents; George and Esther, nee Runge, Heckert, a grandson, Timothy Warning, and a brother, Lenard Heckert.

Surviving are her children; Nancy (James) Eisenhauer of Belleville, Illinois, James (Gail) Warning of Pekin, Illinois, and Gary (Carla) Warning, of Fairview Heights, Illinois, her grandchildren; Brad (Tiffani) Eisenhauer of Columbia, Illinois, Cassie Warning of Portland, Oregon, Anne (Chris) Brown of Shiloh, Illinois, Joe (Julie) Warning of Lansing, Michigan, and Kelsey Warning of Oakville, Missouri, a sister Marcella Boefer of Ellisville, Missouri, three brothers; Wayne and Robert Heckert of Venedy, Illinois, and Dwight Hecker of Mendota, Illinois, three great grandchildren; Cedella Wright, Aaron Eisenhauer, and Madison Brown, as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral: Funeral services will be held at 11am, Saturday, May 3, 2014 at St. John UCC, Fairview Heights, Illinois, with Rev. Jim Nolan officiating. Interment will be in Lake View Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights, Illinois.
