

In 1948, she married the love of her life, Julius Schaefer. They spent 62 special years together enjoying life experiences. Audrey enjoyed being a homemaker and taking care of her family. Later in life, she began working at Famous Barr and loved her time there. After retirement, Audrey enjoyed golfing, bowling in the Senior League at Bel-Air, traveling on bus tours and visiting the casinos with Julius. She was also a member of the Belleville Senior Citizen Club and one of the first female axillary members of the Belleville Khoury League. You could often find Audrey assisting the Moose Lodge 1221 fish fries, attending the dances and enjoying other Moose activities. Audrey will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Survivors left to cherish her memory include her children, Jo Ann (Dale) Weiss and James (Kathy) Schaefer; daughter-in-law, Marge Schaefer, grandchildren, Stephanie (Seth) Niemeier, Stacey (Tim) Lester, Christopher Schaefer, Scott (Lauren) Schaefer and Angela (TJ) Younger; great-grandchildren, Kyle, Tyler and Aaron Niemeier, Jordan Lester, Kellen, Conner and Audrey Schaefer, Sloane and Sonny Schaefer and Blaise Younger. Preceded in death by her parents; husband, Julius Schaefer; son, Ronald Schaefer; siblings, Verona (Harold) Roth, Darleen (James) Ray, Patricia (William) Steinberg, Joyce Roedershimer and Betty (Albert) Downing; Arthur (Anna Mae) Fickinger, Charles (Jean) Fickinger, Jessie (Betsy) Ruff and Edward (Gladys) Ruff.
Funeral service will be held on Friday, February 17, 2023 at 12:00pm in Lake View Funeral Home, 5000 N. Illinois St., Fairview Heights, IL 62208 with visitation from 10:00am until time of service. Interment in Lake View Memorial Gardens.
