Art worked at Sherwood Medical in St. Louis, Mo., and Weigman in Freeburg, Ill. He enjoyed coaching his boys in Belle Clair soccer and Khoury League baseball for many years. Most recently, Art enjoyed landscaping and gardening. Art was known for his love for racing. Eleven years of his life was dedicated to Friday night racing at Belle Clair Speedway cheering on his #43 car, winning the Sportsman Division Championship in 2007.
Surviving are his wife of 56 years, Sonja Harris, nee Maksin; his three sons, Kevin (Tracy) Harris of Smithton, Ill., Michael (Madonna) Harris of Smithton, Ill., and Todd (Christina) Harris, of Belleville, Ill..; four grandchildren, Amber (Keith) Hardy, Aubrey Harris, Jacob Harris, and Aislinn Harris; a brother, Duke (De) Harris of Bethalto, Ill.; four sisters, Ruth (Wayne) King of Olive Branch, Miss., Dale (Howard) Morgan of O'Fallon, Ill., Sherry Bryant of Denton, Texas, and Marsha Dawson (Danny Jones) of Pinckneyville, Ill.; and many nieces and nephews.
