Arthur Junior Crowl, 94, of Belleville, passed away Thursday, May 25, 2023. He was born July 26, 1928 in Belleville to Arthur Leo and Ruth (Voss) Crowl. He was a veteran of the United States Army and proudly served in the Korean War. Art married Shirleen Driver on April 2, 1958 in Belleville. He started Art’s Tree Service and helped other family members start their own tree service business as well. Art was an avid hunter and enjoyed fishing and the outdoors. He had a passion for painting and drawing. Art will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Survivors left to cherish his memory include his children, Melissa (James) Zitta, Dean (Karen) Crowl, David “Woody” Woodruff and daughter-in-law, Sharon Woodruff; grandchildren, Brandon (Jordan Shock) and Brooke Zitta, Logan, Connor and Isabella Crowl, Angie (Scott) Spencer, Tricia Tharpe, Kristie Woodruff and Mary (Kurt) Tom; great-grandchildren, Katelyn and Dylan Spencer; sister, Dorothy Dunnigan; numerous nieces and nephews. Art was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Shirleen Crowl; son, Dale Woodruff; brothers, Harry and Marvin Crowl, and sister, Violet “Toots” Conner.
Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 31, 2023 at 12:00pm in Lake View Funeral Home, 5000 N. Illinois St., Fairview Heights, IL 62208 with visitation from 10:00am until time of service. Interment to follow in Lake View Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions can be made to the Belleville Area Humane Society.
