Born in Fall River, he was a son of the late John S. and Mary (Pacheco) Rua. He was a lifelong area resident.
Mr. Rua served in the United States Air Force (1955-59). Later, he worked as an inspector at Alberox until his retirement. He was a member of the Acushnet Council on Aging where he enjoyed dancing and playing cards. He also enjoyed fishing and watching baseball.
He is survived by a son Thomas T. Rua and his wife Sharon of New Bedford; a daughter, Jennifer Ostasiewski and her husband Norm of Cromwell, CT; two grandchildren, Alexander and Emily and several nieces and nephews. He was brother to the late Manuel Rua, Mary Thorpe, Phoebe Rocha, Hilda Aguiar, Evelyn Rua, Catherine Ricci and Dennis Rua.
His visitation will be Saturday, November 18, 2023 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Waring-Sullivan Home at Fairlawn, 180 Washington Street, Fairhaven, MA 02719. All other services are private.
