Born and raised in Vineyard Haven, Martha’s Vineyard, he was the son of the late Frank and Gertrude Gibson. Roger was an electrician by trade and formerly worked for Fortin Electric. His interests included riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle, sailing and spending time with his loving family.
Survivors include his children, daughter Kim Gibson and Jason Oliveira of Dartmouth, daughter Erin Desrosiers and Justin Passut of E. Freetown and son Derek Gibson and his wife Donna of Acushnet; grandchildren, Cobi and Tyler Desrosiers, Derek, Nathan and Andrew Gibson; a sister, Patricia Rogers of Vineyard Haven; and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late William, James and Frank Gibson.
His Funeral service will be held on Friday, September 16, 2011 at 11am in the Waring-Sullivan Home of Memorial Tribute at Fairlawn, 180 Washington St., Fairhaven. Visiting hours Thursday 5-8pm. Burial private. For online tributes and directions please visit: www.waring-sullivan.com
