Born in Bouctouche, New Brunswick, Canada a daughter of the late Augustine and Azelie (Maillet) Girouard she came to America a young age and later to Fairhaven in 1975. Omerine graduated from New Bedford High School in 1938 and attended Kinyon Campbell Business School.
Ms. Ross was a communicant of St. Joseph’s Church and worked as a credit manager at Berkshire-Hathaway until her retirement in 1988. She enjoyed her winters in Bartow, FL. In her spare time, she enjoyed reading, gardening and making quilts. She was a wonderful grandmother and loved spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by one son, William A. Ross, III and his wife Catherine of Estero FL and Marion; two daughters, Jane Ross Stankiewicz and her husband Mark Southworth of Marion and Sally Ross Santos and her husband Gus of Fairhaven; grandchildren, Jeffrey Ross, Kate Ross, Gregory Santos, Michael Santos, Peter Santos, John Stankiewicz, Thomas Stankiewicz, Katherine Southworth, Elizabeth Boucher and Julia Southworth, four great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
She was the grandmother of the late Jonathan Ross and was predeceased by her eleven siblings.
The family wishes to thank the Pine Wood Unit at the Oaks Nursing Center for their years of compassionate care, the hospice division of Community Nurse and Hospice, and especially Joanne Henriques a dear friend and caregiver.
