Manuel L. Faria Jr.

Manuel L. “Manny” Faria, Jr., 58, of New Bedford, passed away Thursday, May 19, 2011. Born in New Bedford, a son of Manuel L. Faria Sr. and Therese G. (Mercier) Faria of Holiday, Florida, he lived most of his life in Fairhaven, lived in Rochester for ten years and then lived in New Bedford for the last ten years.

Mr. Faria was a graduate of Fairhaven High School, class of 1970 and attended SMU-now U-Mass Dartmouth he worked for NSTAR Electric as an Operating Mechanic in New Bedford for over 30 years.

Manny was a real handyman who could fix almost anything; he also enjoyed skiing, reading, bike riding, being on the water and most of all spending time with his children.

Surviving in addition to his parents are his children, Courtney Elizabeth Faria, Rebecca Lyn Faria and Benjamin Lewis Faria all of Pocasset; a sister, Lynne T. Cormier and her husband David of Brewster; two brothers, Mark L. Faria and his wife Debbie of New Bedford and Jeff L. Faria and his wife Kristy of West Stafford, CT; several nieces and nephews including Aaron Faria (Godchild), Craig Faria, Ray Maines, Brandon Maines and his other Godchild Eric Fernandes.

Visitation will be held on Monday, May 23, 2011 from 4-7pm with a Memorial Service at 7pm in the WARING-SULLIVAN HOME OF MEMORIAL TRIBUTE AT FAIRLAWN, 180 Washington St., Fairhaven. Burial private.
