Lawrence is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Jane (Sargent) DeRego, and his three daughters, Michelle Eddleston and her husband Eddie of West Wareham, Misty DeRego of Fairhaven and Megan DeRego of Fairhaven; his five grandchildren, Michael, Neely, Hannah, Trinity, and Ryland, as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Antone and Beatrice (Silva) DeRego and his godparents, Edward (Ping) and Hilda (Dina) Medeiros.
Lawrence was born in Acushnet on August 26, 1952. He was a lifelong fisherman; he had been on the water since a young age with his father. He was the owner and operator of the F/V Seahorse. Through his work he was able to travel all along the east coast and was able to catch a great variety of marine life. Lawrence loved fishing, lobstering and being on the water. More than that, he loved his family. Nothing made him happier than spending time with his lovely wife and daughters, and his beautiful grandchildren. He shared his love and knowledge of the ocean with his grandchildren, and that love will live on through them. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends and all who knew him.
His memorial visitation will be held on Sunday, February 23, 2020 from 4:00 to 6:30PM in the WARING-SULLIVAN HOME at FAIRLAWN, 180 Washington Street, Fairhaven, MA 02719. Relatives and friends are invited. Burial is private. To leave a note of condolence: www.waring-sulllivan .com
