Donna T. Dever

Donna T. (Dorgan) Dever, 69, of Fairhaven, MA passed away peacefully on December 4, 2024, after an arduous battle with cancer. Born in Fairhaven to her loving parents, Robert and Evelyn (Sottak) Dorgan, Donna was a lifelong resident deeply rooted in her faith and community.

Donna was a devoted communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Fairhaven and a proud alumna of Sacred Heart School in Fairhaven and Bishop Stang High School, Dartmouth, Class of 1972. She earned her bachelor’s degree from UMass Dartmouth and went on to receive a master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from Bridgewater State University.

Donna dedicated her life to helping others, serving as a counselor at the Paul A. Dever State School and later in private practice. Beyond her professional achievements, Donna had a profound passion for the arts, particularly acting. She was a long-time participant in local theater groups, including Your Theatre and Heart to Heart in Taunton. Her passion and perseverance led her to achieve one of her greatest personal accomplishments: membership in SAG-AFTRA. Donna’s extensive background work gained her notable screen time in the acclaimed films, including the Oscar-winning The Holdovers and CODA.

Above all, Donna’s greatest joy in life was her family, especially her beloved daughter, Bridget Durant of Fairhaven. She is also survived by her son-in-law, Cameron Durant, and her three cherished granddaughters, Reagan, Emilia, and Isla Durant. Donna also leaves behind her loving sister, Sheila Dorgan and her husband, Alfred Gauthier of Mattapoisett; her brother, Robert Dorgan of New Bedford; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Donna’s strong and vibrant spirit will be deeply missed.

Her funeral will be Thursday, December 12, 2024 at 9 a.m. from the Waring-Sullivan Home at Fairlawn, 180 Washington St., Fairhaven. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10 a.m. in St. Mary’s Church, 440 Main St., Fairhaven. Burial will be private.
