With tears of sorrow he is now begrieved." ~r.torres
Robert was mostly known by his students and fellow teachers as "Mr. Mac" and by his many dear friends simply as Bobby.
Bobby is preceded in death by his father, Robert "Bob" McMillen, Sr.
He is survived by his mother Rita A. McMillen, Stoneham, MA, and his husband, Raul H. Torres, Tara Hills, CA.
Bobby was a public school teacher with a Master's Degree in Special Education. His primary focus was working with younger children with reading and learning disabilities.
Bobby also had a knack for reaching the shy kids who were too timid to join the group or try to read. He was magical with the kids!
The whole school loved him. Teachers, administrators, parents, even the principal enjoyed his crazy sense of humor and his way of working with the children.
Bobby was also a animal lover, he had many kitties throughout his life. He and Raul had 5 'indoor' cats plus the outdoor ones they cared for! There were another 4 or 5.
Prior to being a teacher, Bobby had worked at San Francisco Animal Control Center, an animal shelter.
He also was a charitable man, he rode his bicycle in the AIDS/LifeCycle 3 times in a row! The ALC is 545 mile charity bike ride from San Francisco to Los Angeles to help raise money and awareness of the dreaded HIV/AIDS pandemic.
Bobby asked that if anyone felt so moved, a donation to a local pet rescue center in his honor would be appreciated. Peace.
