It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Sergeant Vicki Sue Fairfax, née Norman, at the age of 70. Vicki lived at her home in Fairfax, VA since 1988 and passed in the home on September 29, 2020 as a result of an unexpected and sudden intestinal perforation.
Vicki was born in Independence, Missouri on July 4th, 1950 to Barbara Mae Ball, née Wagner, and Edwin Dale Norman. She was raised by Barbara and Albert (Bert) E. Ball in Missouri as well as Fairfax, VA.
She worked at the Fairfax County Sheriff’s Department from 1988 until her retirement in 2012, achieving the rank of Sergeant. She was dedicated to being an honest leader and hardworking employee during her working years. She considered it an honor to serve and work alongside so many amazing people.
In retirement, Vicki volunteered at Promises Animal Rescue and fostered countless dogs through the organization. She eventually adopted Reid, a Pitbull, after numerous families chose not to adopt a dangerous breed. She was fiercely loyal to her favorite sports teams in Kansas City, MO and Washington, DC including the Washington Football Team, Kansas City Chiefs, Washington Nationals, Kansas City Royals, and Washington Capitals. If she wasn’t in the stands, she was definitely watching at home.
She loved spending time with family and friends. Her happiest moments were visiting with family in Missouri, holidays with family and friends, get togethers for birthdays and special occasions, brunch on Christmas morning, brunch with friends anytime they were free, and being Mimi to her grandchildren.
Vicki is survived by her two sons – Joseph and Robert Fairfax, Joseph’s wife, Jennifer, and their two sons, Michael and Jack, and Robert’s wife, Stacy, and their expectant child. She was a loving sister to her brother, Steve Norman, and sister, Terrie Norman Schuster, and a loving aunt to their children (William Norman, Jennifer (Norman) Renaud, Jordan (Schuster) Foshee, and Aaron Schuster).
