Sara was an amazing mother, daughter, friend, but the title she absolutely adored was “NiNi” to her grandkids. She was the devoted daughter and fourth child of nine born to Bob and Donna Welch. Sara was a loved, respected, consummate professional of 37 years at Travelers. She was a beloved friend to so many since childhood and an adopted mom to all those she so generously welcomed into her home and heart. But to her husband, Ricky, of 34 years, she will always be the love of his life, his angel, with whom he shares their most prized and valued possessions- their children Ryan, Ally, and Sammie and their grandchildren, Grace, Peyton, Reid, Ricky, and Brayden.
Whether you met Sara in passing or had the honor and privilege of knowing her for a lifetime, it was her unforgettable smile that we will carry with us always; a smile she has passed on to her children as her legacy of love for her family and a constant reminder to all of us to find the joy in our lives. As only Sara could, she spent her last days making sure that her family was okay and prepared to take care of each other, constantly telling them and all those around her how much she loved them. Sara will forever be loved and missed but will always be with us if we follow the example she set to smile, find the joy, and hold tight to the ones you love in our lives.
The best kind of people are the ones who come into your life and make you see the sun where you once saw clouds. The people who believe in you so much, you start to believe in you too. The people who love you, simply for being you. The once in a lifetime kind of people. Sara was that once in a lifetime kind of person to all those who knew her. She will be forever missed…
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Inova Schar Cancer Institute in Sara's name.
