A resident of Fairfax for nearly four decades, Rob was born July 5, 1952, in Portsmouth, VA. Rob grew up in and around the waters of the Chesapeake Bay, developing a love of sailing while repairing ships and U.S. naval vessels alongside his father, Harry.
Rob’s experience as a mechanic translated into a prolonged career as a computer engineer and programmer. During a stint with General Electric in the late 1980s and early 1990s, Rob worked on NASA’s Hubble Space Telescope, which was launched into Earth’s orbit in 1990 and remains in operation today.
Rob was a committed, loving father and husband, survived by his wife, Karen; his two children, Stephanie and Wesley; and his five grandchildren, aged 4 years to 4 months.
