Nancy Knox Partridge, 79, of Chantilly, VA, died peacefully on June 6, 2014 following a stroke, with her husband, son, and daughter by her side. Born in Raleigh, NC to the late Joseph C. and Martha (Cox) Knox, she grew up in Wilmington. After graduating from Greensboro College, she began work in their Admissions Office, later becoming Dean of Women at Guilford College and earning an MS in Counseling from the University of North Carolina. She married Charles Partridge on March 9, 1968. In 1976, when the US Army posted Charles to Tong Du Chon, Korea, she moved to Seoul with their two young children and served as Guidance Counselor at Seoul Foreign School, established by Presbyterian missionaries. Upon return to the US in 1978, she became a devoted member of Fairfax Presbyterian Church. She served the mission of the Church in a variety of ways, notably as Deacon and Elder, and as a member of Presbyterian Women. She also served for over 30 years as a volunteer and, later, board member at Main Street Child Development Center in Fairfax, an outstanding school for pre-K children of working parents. Her many friends knew of her devotion to God, family, serving others, and the nation she loved. They also knew of her passion for travel, writing, cooking, and baseball. She always said that she was born to be a grandmother. Nancy is survived by her husband, Charles; two children, John Partridge and Jane Kaftan (Rob); five grandchildren, George, Emma, and Charles Kaftan, and Hannah and James Partridge; and her brother, Joseph Knox, Jr. (June) , and their three daughters, Allison Devechio (John), Susie Ford (Gil), and Nancy Jo Spear (Deven) . In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Fairfax Presbyterian Church, 10723 Main Street, Fairfax, VA 22030 (http://fairfaxpresbyterian.org/) or to Main Street Child Development Center, 4401 Sideburn Rd, Fairfax, VA 22030 (http://www.mainstreetcdc.org/).
