Born in Scranton, PA on December 30, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Aldino and Mary Gori
Pierotti. She married and lived in Taylor until 1971 when she, her husband John and young daughter relocated to Dunedin, FL.
Theresa graduated from Taylor High School in 1948. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Hotel
and Restaurant Administration in 1952 from Penn State University, and after moving to Florida, received a Master of Arts degree in Library and Information Science from the University of South Florida.
While at Penn State, she was a member of Theta Phi Alpha Sorority, served as its Rho Chapter President and was honored with its Senior Service Award upon graduation. Academically she received
many honors from the Hotel and Restaurant Department and was inducted in several honor societies prior to graduation. While at the University of South Florida she also received many academic honors and was inducted into Beta Phi Mu, the International Library Science Honor Society. She was especially proud of a professional article she wrote, titled “Religious Reference Works and the Catholic High School
Library”, which was published in Catholic Library World in 1987.
Prior to her move to Dunedin, FL she was associated for many years with the family business, Aldino’s Restaurant, a popular Italian-American eating establishment for over 50 years in Taylor, PA. Since 1975, she was employed at Clearwater Central Catholic High School, Clearwater, FL. She retired in 1998 as Director of Library Media Services.
She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Dunedin, FL where she also served as a
catechetical teacher for several years.
Theresa was a devoted wife and mother. She was an avid reader, loved to knit and enjoyed traveling.
She enjoyed the movies, concerts and live theatre and attended them often with her husband, John.
After her retirement from her librarianship, she volunteered for many years at the Dunedin Public Library Book Store.
Surviving are her daughter, Mary T. Phifer and son-in-law, James A. Phifer, Jr, Reston, VA; a brother, Aldino Pierotti, Jr, Plains Township, PA; a brother, Richard J. Pierotti, M.D. and his wife Virginia, Perkasie, PA; several beloved nieces, a nephew, and grand nieces and grand nephew.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband of 65 years, John S. Stacknick, and a sister-in-law, Dolores Bucari Pierotti, of PA.
Given the current Covid-19 situation, a celebration of Theresa’s life will be scheduled at a later date.
