Joseph S. Wood Jr., 74, died peacefully at his home surrounded by the love of his family on September 16th, 2015. He cared deeply for his family and his ten grandchildren and his passing will leave a void in all the lives he touched. Joe is survived by his wife of nearly 47 years, Wilma Jolene, his three children, Joseph III and his wife Lynda, Elizabeth and her husband Michael Snyder, and Valerie and her husband Michael Smith, along with ten grandchildren: Samantha & Joseph IV; Jordan & Jeremy Michaels; Haley & Kayla Snyder; Brittany, Emily, Courtney & Baby Smith (due to arrive in October). He is survived by his siblings Larry, Mary Lou, Kathy May and Mike. Joe was preceded in death by his mother, Alice, and his father, Joseph Sr., and his oldest sister, JouAnn Lee. Raised in Alexandria, Virginia, Joe served in the Army during the Vietnam War Effort. Passionate about fixing all things electronic, Joe owned his own business in his early years. His talent earned him a successful career with a prominent electronics company until his retirement. Loving his work, he was always dedicated to providing for his family. His ability to make all that knew him laugh and be at ease was one of his most notable qualities. A visitation will be held Monday, September 21st, 2015 from 6-8 PM, Demaine Funeral Home, 10565 Main Street, Fairfax. A funeral mass will be held at 11 AM on Tuesday, September 22nd at St. Leo’s Catholic Church, 3700 Old Lee Highway in Fairfax. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Alexandria, Virginia.
