James Elwood Baird

Jim Baird, aged 65, of Falls Church, Virginia, passed away August 26, 2019 at his home. He was born in Washington D.C. and raised in Falls Church where he was an outstanding football player and very successful wrestler at Falls Church High School. Jim was a kind and gentle man who spent most of his life working in the construction industry. He did carpentry, drywall, and had mastered many other building crafts. He also spent extensive time helping friends and relatives with construction projects. He was an extraordinary source of information on building, home repair and auto repair issues always willing to share his knowledge with anyone. His construction skills afforded him an opportunity to work on a wide variety of projects including a stint in Jordan. He was a fair man who helped countless people with his talents. He is predeceased by his parents, Burns Tally Baird and Lavern Cecile Winters Baird of Falls Church. Jeb is survived by his three brothers: Gary Burns Baird and wife Linda of Fairfax VA, Brian Don Baird and wife Donna of Sterling VA, and David Winters Baird and his wife Grace of Haymarket VA. He also leaves two aunts, one uncle, and many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and cousins. A celebration of Jim's life will be held at JV's Restaurant in Falls Church on Sunday, September 1st from noon till 3 pm where memories will be shared.
