Ilse Monica Riddick, 66, of Fairfax, VA passed away on April 22nd, 2021 surrounded by family after bravely battling cancer. Ilse was born on May 7th, 1954 in Loeffingen, Germany and immigrated to the US in 1964 with her family. She was educated in Heidelberg High School, Germany and a graduate of Fairfax High School and in 1972 Ilse graduated from George Mason University where she obtained a bachelor’s degree in science.
In 1975 Ilse married James L. Riddick in Fairfax, VA. After building her family she went on to work for George Mason University in the Human Resource Department working her way up to Assistant Director of Compensation. In 2013 Ilse accepted a job with the Fairfax County Government Central Human Resources as a Workforce and Compensation Analyst. In 2017 she moved over to Land Development Services as the Human Resources Manager. Ilse loved her job, the employees she interacted with, and the results her hard work achieved. She was highly perceptive, incredibly intelligent and well educated on many subjects.
In her free time Ilse enjoyed many hobbies. She was an avid reader, gardener, and angler. Ilse was a self-taught jeweler and painter. Her handmade jewelry became a Christmas tradition treasured by all. Ilse was a very skilled Bridge, Pinochle and Hearts player. However, no matter how many hobbies Ilse had, the amount of joy her family brought her, was no comparison. Ilse was very proud of the fact that she got to witness all her grandchildren come into this world.
Ilse will be greatly missed by her husband James L. Riddick, 4 children, Monica Stover, James C., Michael J. and Erica Riddick, six grandchildren, Matthew Bryce and Dana Marie Stover, Kaitlyn Brooks, Alexis Bennett, Roy and Dakota Riddick, her mother, Anna Keefe, her brothers Edward and Michael Keefe and her sister Mary Helme.
Graveside services for Ilse will be on May 15th, 2021 at 1:00pm in Fairfax City Cemetery. After the services, a reception will be held at Michael & Connie Keefe’s home in Fairfax, VA. Due to COVID concerns the reception will have outdoor options on the deck and backyard. In lieu of flowers we ask that you please donate to Fancy Cats Rescue where Ilse’s two dearly beloved cats, Mooney & Marcy were adopted from.
