Libby was born in 1937 in Brooklyn, N.Y. to RADM Edward Joseph Fahy USN and Cecelia Mary Finn and was the oldest of their five children. The family lived in many places including on both coasts of the United States due to her father’s Naval career. She attended St. Joseph’s College in Emmitsburg, MD and Dominican College in San Rafael, CA. After college she worked as a TWA flight attendant during the late 1950’s and later worked as a dental receptionist for several different dentists. Libby was inseparable from her husband and always said they had a great life together. Libby was a loyal and supportive Navy wife, and the family moved multiple times during her husband’s Naval career including duty stations in France, California, South Carolina, Rhode Island, Pennsylvania, and Virginia. Libby was an avid sports fan from childhood and would listen to sporting events on the radio with her grandfather. She later enjoyed watching all types of sports in person and on television with her husband. No one was prouder than Libby of her three granddaughters’ high school and collegiate volleyball and golf accomplishments. Family was always the most important thing to her. Libby was a loyal and devoted wife and mother and a proud grandmother and great grandmother. Libby was everybody’s friend, always had a smile on her face, and was full of life.
